RayDar Books is a family-owned and veteran-owned New Mexico business. We've been in operation since 1995. RayDar Books is the literary division of RayDar Enterprises. We specialize in writing, editing, teaching and mentoring in the worlds of fiction and non-fiction writing. Both of the principles, Ray A. Collins and Dr. Darlene D. Collins, are published authors with multiple titles to their credit.

Ray A. Collins has a Master’s Degree in Education. He has been writing since the age of fourteen. His novels include Character Assassination, Deep Canyon Rising, Extinct Cowboy, and The Pirate.  He specializes in mysteries, detective/police/crime, Westerns, and fantasy. He has a collection of short fiction in the same genres and is also the author of a variety poetry, magazine articles and educational material. He offers workshops and coaching services in creative writing.  He lives in Rio Rancho, New Mexico where he writes, researches, edits and teaches in the area of general fiction and educational non-fiction. The origins of Collins’s love affair with the written word began at age 13. His father was a published poet and he grew up in a house of avid readers of history, mystery and westerns. Nearly everyone in his family took some interest in literature, and with a host of would-be writers in his family, he got an early start at editing. At age 13 he edited his first work at, with the publication of the Muncie Hodgepodge, a neighborhood newspaper. As a professional editor he focuses primarily on creative writing and academic dissertations for proofreading, technical editing, and correlation editing. He has been consistently sought after as a writing coach and continues to teach writing courses at the college level.




Dr. Darlene Collins, PhD

Dr. Darlene D. Collins has a PhD in Education. She is the author of a self-help book, The Real Illusion of Fear and an academic text, Entrepreneurs and Business Success: The Effect of Fear on Human Performance. She has been published in magazines, newspapers, and has a collection of poetry. She owns a consulting firm offering executive and life coaching, strategic planning and seminars in Fear Management and employee training and development courses on topics such as leadership, communication, productivity, conflict management and self-empowerment. Darlene has excelled at language art endeavors including winning numerous literacy awards through grade school, high school and college with a master’s thesis and a doctoral dissertation. During her education at Morton Memorial, she received a rigorous grounding in grammar, syntax, and rhetoric, and was a key contributor in publishing her high school yearbook. In professional editorial work she has a keen sense for applying the APA, MLA or Chicago Manual of Style, as well as strengthening logic, clarity and flow through content editing.
